Jewish Cultural Co-ordinator

Based in Stanmore. Hybrid role - 3 days office base

In this vital role, you will ensure that the individuals we support are empowered to live their lives in accordance with their personal religious and cultural wishes. Key Responsibilities:.

  • Identify the Jewish cultural needs for people we support across adult services in Norwood and ensure that Norwood residential and supported living homes plan and facilitate the appropriate level of Jewish culture for the people we support.
  • Educate, collaborate with, and support the Jewish community to raise awareness and promote disability inclusivity, ensuring people we support feel welcomed within the community and can practice Judaism inclusively.
  • Deliver Jewish Way of Life training to Office Staff and for SLT.
  • Provide ongoing support regarding Judaism to all staff in services. 
  • Recruit and line manage a bank of Jewish culture volunteers to support activities.
  • Manage religious celebrations, event planning around Shabbat and Jewish festivals in partnership with Norwood Services.
  • Support with Jewish End of Life care and procedures, e.g funeral and shiva preparations when required.
  • Work in partnership with the Norwood Rabbi to promote, encourage, and ensure that the desired levels of kashrut and observance are maintained across services, and staff are supported to deliver this.
  • Share information, celebrate achievements, and be a welcome and familiar presence in the homes.
  • Proactively reach out to communities, build new connections, to increase engagement and raise the profile of Norwood, the Jewish values, and inclusive practice to the Jewish community and beyond.
  • Identify and support Trust applications to synagogues for High Holy Day/ Kol Nidre appeals.
  • Facilitate the Jewish way of life training and resources.
  • Create, source, provide, and distribute resources such as easy-read prayers and blessings, and activities for homes to support Jewish life across Norwood services.
