Norwood is currently recruiting a full time Physical Activity Practitioner to join the Complimentary services team to support with physical activity therapy provision for adults with Learning Disabilities & Autism within Ravenswood Village. Our fantastic site near Crowthorne, is made up of eleven residential homes, set within a rural site which boosts an activity centre, hydrotherapy pool and horse-riding centre.

The Physical Activity Practitioner role involves working closely with the Wellbeing Manager and in conjunction with other professionals when required, to deliver wellbeing and physical activity programmes in response to the needs of the people we support in the village. This can be facilitating group and 1:1 sessions for a bespoke, person-centred service consisting of health walks, bike club, rebound therapy on the trampoline and guided sessions within the hydrotherapy pool.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previously worked in a health care setting supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism
  • Knowledge of sports and physical activity programmes
  • Grade C or above at GSCE in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety particularly in respect of swimming pools, sports and physical activity delivery

 

Skills and Abilities

  • A competent swimmer whose able to support less able-bodied individuals within the pool
  • A positive attitude towards people with disabilities and the benefits of physical activities
  • Able to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • A high level of commitment and enthusiasm
  • A confident and outgoing demeanour

Desirable

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Level 2 Coaching Qualification
  • RLSS current qualification as National Pool Lifeguard, or Bronze Medallion or National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (formerly Rescue Test for Teachers and Coaches of Swimming), Rescue Test for Supervisors of Swimming with Disabilities
  • NRASTC, National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches
  • PWTAG, National Pool Plant Operators Certificate
