To work as a Lifeguard, you’ll need to have a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) but at Norwood we pride ourselves on developing our people, so if you are interested in this opportunity but don't have a relevant qualification yet then don't worry – apply anyway and we’ll let you know more about gaining a lifeguard qualification through us.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and control of pool and surrounding area to ensure safety of swimmers.
  • Perform rescues, give immediate first aid in the event of injury or initiate other emergency action as appropriate.
  • Clean pool and surrounding areas, showers and changing facilities and other areas as required.
  • Assist people we support with transferring in and out of the pool using a static hoist.
  • Maintain chemical balance levels and perform water tests to ensure the safety of swimmers.
  • To operate the pool plant room, maintaining the pumps, tanks and chemical barrels to a safe level.
  • To attend any training courses as instructed and to keep their current lifeguard qualification up to date.
  • To wear correct uniform which complies with the company dress code and to abide by policies and procedures.
  • To provide cover at other sports activities and events when required.

Essential:

  • Experience of working with people with a disability or have the skills and ability to work with people with a disability
  • Strong and competent swimmer 
  • Understanding of the necessity for high standard of hygiene in swimming pools  

 

Desirable:

  • • Previous experience of working in the leisure industry 
  • • Experience of teaching studio classes or sports sessions

 

Abilities, skills and knowledge

  • Capable of passing the water assessment as required 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to work on own initiative, as well as part of a team
  • Good general fitness
