Job Title: Head Chef 

Reports to: Operations Team 

Salary: £34,000 - £38,000, depending on experience 

Hours: 39 hours per week across shifts, including some weekends

Location: Ravenswood Village, Crowthorne, Berkshire, RG45 6BQ 

Contract: Permanent

 

Norwood is a Jewish charity that supports and empowers neurodiverse children, their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives. 

We’re looking for a qualified Head Chef to join our team at Ravenswood and manage a team rota covering seven days a week to design and deliver nutritious Kosher meals across two adult homes, for the people we support.

Purpose of the role:

  • By getting to know the people we support, the care staff and health professionals, you will lead and develop a team to create and produce a varied, nutritionally balanced, and appetising Kosher menu that will satisfy all dietary needs and preferences in a safe, hygienic and efficient manner, building relationships along the way.
  • You’ll maintain all aspects of the kitchens, including stock, cleaning and disposal of waste as well as other required checks in line with the regulations set by the Food Standards Agency.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to support ad hoc functions or events both on and off site for Norwood and provide cover where necessary, ensuring continuity of the day-to-day operation of the kitchens. This may include the need to work flexibly and taking on additional hours on occasion.

 

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Catering / Cookery or equivalent
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Up to date knowledge of the regulations set out by the Food Standards Agency
  • Team leadership experience in a kitchen environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A genuine team player with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to work 39 hours per week, across a 7 day shift pattern
