Job Title: Welfare Benefits Manager

Accountable to: Financial Controller 

Location: Broadway House, Stanmore (flexi-hybrid)                     

Hours: 35 hours per week                               

Contract: 12 month fixed term contract

Salary: £40,000 to £45,000

About Norwood:

Norwood is a large charity supporting vulnerable adults, children, and their families. Norwood operates care homes and family centres across London and a site in Berkshire. We support and empower neurodiverse children and their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives. 

 

About the role:

As a Welfare Benefits Manager, you will provide timely specialist advice and information on all benefit matters relating to the people we support. You will continuously improve the delivery of such advice and support our clients to access the benefits they are entitled to, acting for the client, where necessary, in completing the appropriate paperwork. You will work collaboratively and proactively with the wider organisation to ensure that a high level of support is provided to the people we support and all other stakeholders. You will lead the appointeeship relinquishment project that is due to commence in April 2025. 

 

Essential:

  • Previous experience of benefits advice work
  • Experience and knowledge of welfare rights casework and managing own caseloads
  • Working experience of appointeeship
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits including those related to disability and sickness
  • To be able to work in a person-centred way
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Project Management skills
  • Adherence to the Norwood Values – Kindness, Respect, Belonging, Empowerment

 

Desirable:

  • Involvement in the relinquishment of appointeeship
