Founded in 1795, Norwood is the oldest Jewish charity in the UK, and has been privileged to receive Royal Patronage since 1815. We support and empower neurodiverse children and their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives.
Norwood works with local authorities, to deliver wide-ranging services including residential and supported living accommodation and short-breaks facilities, as well as a range of support groups aimed at the whole family, not just the individual.
Copper Beech is a small, friendly, bespoke service consisted of 4 separate flats. We support 3-4 people with learning disabilities and neurodivergent needs, who require 1:1 staff support with some needing of 2:1 support. Currently we support two young ladies and one gentleman. We follow the positive behaviour support plans, ensuring we are person centred, so the people are empowered to achieve their full potential and independence. It's important for us to support people with their communication, taking part in completing daily chores, activities, trips out to the community, therapies (such as sensory activities, rebound, arts, baking, music), as well as sport and leisure activities (walks, cycling, swimming, disco) and celebrating Jewish festivals. Copper Beech support staff are enthusiastic, caring and treat one another with respect and value team collaboration. We find it highly rewarding to see our residents living a happy and fulfilled life.
