About the Role

We’re recruiting a Senior Family Advocacy Practitioner to lead the design and early-stage delivery of a new Advice and Advocacy Service for families of children and young people with neurodevelopmental and neurodivergent needs.

You’ll play a key role in shaping a model that is family-led, accessible, and practical, rooted in Norwood’s strengths-based ethos and built around our values of Kindness, Respect, Belonging, and Empowerment.

This is your opportunity to build something from the ground up, creating the structure, tools, and pathways for a service that will inform, connect, and empower families to feel heard and supported.

It’s a rare chance to lead purposeful, values-driven development work at the heart of Norwood’s transformation of its Children and Family Service.

Your Day-to-Day

This role is developmental, strategic, and hands-on. You’ll:
• Scope out best practice in family advice and advocacy
• Engage with families, staff, and external partners to shape the offer
• Design operational tools (e.g. intake forms, assessment templates, referral pathways)
• Draft policies and guidance aligned with safeguarding and Norwood’s values
• Coordinate a pilot of the revised intake form
• Produce documentation to support future recruitment, team structure, and access routes
• Provide reports to Norwood leadership, funders, and stakeholders
• Support the broader Advice and Advocacy Service Implementation Plan (2025–28)

Experience, Qualifications & Training

Essential:
• Degree or professional qualification in Social Work, Education, Psychology, Health or equivalent experience
• Experience delivering or designing advice/advocacy services for families
• Strong understanding of neurodiversity, SEND, and statutory frameworks (e.g. EHCPs)
• Proven ability to engage and co-design with families and professionals
• Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable:
• Experience working in a transformation programme or pilot initiative
• Project management or policy development training
• Knowledge of the Jewish community and culturally responsive service delivery
• Lived experience navigating services as a parent or carer
